Narrative

God stands still, motionless and emotionless, encircled by his worshipers. It stays still so they can all be wary of Its existence, taking their time to worship It and gaze upon Its glory. Their fabricated god that they constructed to explain why they have what they have and why it was given to them.

The God that the beings have put on this throne is made from the same materials that formulate their own worlds, such as gold dirt and grass. The God is neither a loving god nor a destructive one. It simply exists to create for those who choose to believe in it. It calmly levitates in the center of their constructed universe, in a near stagnate state, waiting for the time it is needed. A prisoner, to the very same people who made it a king. A belief, that does not have any beliefs itself. An Idea, unthinking yet very conscious all the same.

Installation

Our installation work consisted of a scene we made in Unity, displaying a surreal landscape of floating mouth-elbow islands, revolving around a central god-like figure, projected onto different-sized planks of wood placed in a semi-circular formation. The arc placement of the wood planks emphasizes the rotation of the camera, giving the scene a more 3-dimensional appearance.

ACTIVITY: Documentation is an important part of the making process, not only in the finished state but over the course of the project. Create process documentation that lets the reader understand the project, how it was conceived, where it is in the process, and how the remaining work will be completed.

Concept

If you don’t speak about something, or express it to someone else - does it really exist? The mouth passes things and ideas down.

Silencing

Mouths are floating islands. The floating islands represent the ideas that we hold in our minds. In order to keep ideas/culture alive, we must pass things on through word of mouth. If we don’t communicate our ideas - the ideas die off with us.

Every time, the user doesn’t open their mouth/speak for an X period of time, an island disappears.

However, oftentimes people are silenced/forced into silence by an oppressor.
